Special Project:
Roundtable Dialogue on CSR within the Food Industry - Eliminating vitamin and mineral deficiency: The goal of the
roundtable dialogue is to explore the positive impact that the food industry can have on sustainable development
through fighting vitamin and mineral deficiency, an essential building block for human development. We will learn
what industry is doing, pinpoint barriers to further action, and consider how the World Bank Group, the Global
Alliance for Improved Nutrition and Micronutrients Initiative can work together with industry to achieve this
agenda. In addition, we will identify current best practices and discuss what an effective CSR study would be on
this topic. Through this process we will create CSR studies in concert with leading academic institutions i.e.
IMD, Yale, Harvard, Wharton, a special publication and learning tools to be used in developing countries.
Special Project:
Better Management Practices in Agricultural Commodities: The
Corporate Citizenship Facility (CCF) is working
together with WWF to develop a set of better management practices for a variety of agricultural commodities
produced globally. In March 2003, the IFC and WWF convened a meeting of banks, producers and buyers to discuss
the utility of BMP’s to different stakeholder groups. It was clear that for investors, companies that use BMP's
represent fewer risks and potentially higher returns on investment. For many buyers, such companies represent
good potential longer-term partners.
